Cobie Smulders was born as the daughter of a Dutch father and British mother. She was named Jacoba, after her great-aunt, which then turned into her nickname of Cobie. As a child, Cobie has never considered acting as a career, but instead was more interested in becoming a doctor or a marine biologist.
For getting high school education, Cobie attended the Lord Byng Secondary School , where she started exploring acting. After taking part in several school productions, she began to develop an interest for the art. She completed high school in 2000, and besides graduating with high honors she was also voted as the “Most Respected” by her classmates in her senior year at high school.
As a teenager, Cobie was discovered by a modeling agency and she became an international model traveling across the globe to places like Paris, Japan, Milan, Greece, the Caribbean, Africa and Germany etc. As a teenager, she also participated in various sports including tennis, swimming and soccer. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
Cobie has had a relationship with boyfriend Taran Killam for quite some time. The news of the couple’s engagement was announced January 28, 2009. Later, on 16th May 2009, the actress gave birth to the couple’s first child, a baby girl whom they named Shaelyn Cado Killam.
Kelly’s first appearance on television was in a guest role on the series Jeremiah. Since then she has portrayed numerous characters on different TV shows which include, Special Unit 2, Veritas: The Quest, Smallville, Andromeda, The L-Word and How I Met Your Mother, etc. In addition she has also contributed in the soundtrack of How I Met Your Mother.
Besides having wooed the audiences of the small screen, this gorgeous actress has also won the hearts of millions of fans through her histrionics on the big screen. Her most prominent movies include, Candy from Strangers, Ill Fated, The Long Weekend, Dr. Miracles, The Storm Awaits and The Slammin’ Salmon etc.
Role In How I Met Your Mother
In How I Met Your Mother, Cobie plays the role of Robin Scherbatsky. She works as a Television news reporter/anchor for a local TV station. During the first season of the series she was romantically pursued by Ted whom she then dated for the most part of the second season. It was clarified in the first season itself that she is not the mother of Ted’s children as he refers them to her as Aunt Robin. Despite their break-up, Ted and Robin still struggle with some sexual tension in their relationship, which is even more evident when, Robin brings her new boyfriend home.
