Josh Radnor was born as the son of Alan Radnor, who worked as a litigation lawyer. He was raised in Bexley, which is a suburb of Columbus. At Bexley, Josh studied at Jewish day schools with the Columbus Torah Academy being one of them and also participated in summer camps. Before graduating from Kenyon College, where he studied with author John Green, he had attended the Bexley High School, from where he graduated in 1992.
While he studied at Kenyon College, the theater department of the school awarded Josh with the Paul Newman Award and also named him as the school’s most famous alumnus. He later went on to study acting from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, and graduated with a Masters degree in Fine Arts.
Josh has two siblings both of whom are females and reside in southern and northern California, respectively. He is allergic towards dogs. He currently lives in Los Angeles and is known to be dating actress Lindsay Price.
Josh started his acting career in 2000, when he got a small part in an episode of the show Welcome To New York. He later, made appearances in various other TV shows which include, Law & Order, The Court, Six Feet Under, Judging Amy, Family Guy and How I Met Your Mother, etc. He has not done much work on the big screen and has been seen only in one movie named Not Another Teen Movie.
He made his Broadway debut in 2002, when he was cast in the stage version of The Graduate. He has also been seen at The Manhattan Theater Club, The Vineyar Theater, and The Blue Light Theatre Company.
Role In How I Met Your Mother
In How I Met Your Mother, Josh plays the role of the central character of the show, Ted Mosby, who works as an architect. He tells his teenaged son and daughter, the story of he met their mother, in flashbacks. It is revealed that he had been living with Marshall and Lily, his friends from college till the time they moved out. Despite Ted having referred to Robin as “Aunt Robin” in the very first season, in the flashbacks for the first two seasons of the show, Ted thought of Robin as his soul mate with whom he later broke up. It is still not known as to who is the mother of his children.
